Aerosmith & Alter Bridge Announced As Third Headliner & Special Guest For Download Festival 2014

Returning to headline the festival for the second time after their rain affected visit in 2010, Boston rock legends Aerosmith will close the festival once again, hopefully in better conditions this time around. Armed with a plane full of classic tracks and a new album in the shape of "Music From Another Dimension", expect one of the slickest performances of the weekend from Mssrs Tyler, Perry and co. Their legendary guitarist Joe Perry had this to say about their return to UK shores next June:
“It’s been too long since we’ve been to England and we’re sincerely f**ing charged to be coming back! See you there”
In what is a very popular choice for Aerosmith's direct support, none other than Alter Bridge will be appearing as sub-headliners / special guests on Sunday. Riding high on the back of their best UK chart position with new album, the stunning Fortress, and a sold out UK arena tour last month (check out what happened when Emily went to see them at Wembley), Myles, Mark, Scott and Brian now have the chance to wow their biggest UK audience to date. Having worked their way up the stages and proverbial rankings at Download since their first appearance in 2005, this will be a prime opportunity to see why so many people think it is only a matter of time before Alter Bridge are headlining the festival.
So there we have it. The top end of the Download Festival 2014 line-up looks like this:
Avenged Sevenfold
Rob Zombie
Linkin Park
Fall Out Boy
Alter Bridge
Discounted early bird tickets are available for another two days (until Friday 8th November 2013) with a £10 discount off of the 2013 price. Head to the official festival website to pick up an early bird ticket if you like what's been announced so far - but be quick if you want cheaper tickets. will bring our readers all further line-up announcements in due course.
