Download Festival 2012 Names Main Stage The Jim Marshall Stage

One of the biggest pieces of music news of the year thus far and widely reported across the music world last week, the passing of Marshall Amps founder, inventer and chief innovater Jim Marshall OBE cast a sadness across music irrespective of genre that will be there for many for some considerable time. Jim's passing at the age of 88 lead to an almighty cascade of deserved dedications and remembrance from his peers, artists who had had the pleasure of knowing Jim or working with him and performers and people of all nature connected with the music industry from across the entire world.

Having paid tribute to other individuals in past years gone by of the festival, the welcome news came yesterday that the tenth anniversary edition of the Download Festival's main stage will be named The Jim Marshall stage as a tribute to one of the most important men in the history of all music, not just rock and metal. Other tributes to Jim will surely surface in the coming weeks and months but as they go this is indeed a sizeable tribute, one we at Scribes of Metal hope the great man himself would have enjoyed.
Download 2012 currently has several dozen bands of all shapes and sizes on its impressive lineup and is being headlined by Metallica, The Prodigy and Black Sabbath. Tickets remain on sale at the official festival website and from online ticket retailers.
