Download Festival 2013 News Catch Up

It's just come to the attention of those in Scribes towers we never brought our readers the rather large Download Festival 2013 announcement from a few weeks ago. Since then various other little tidbits of news have been sneaking out via Twitter and bands themselves, so we thought we'd provide a Download recap for everyone. There's also another announcement headed our way at 6pm today (February 18th 2013), so we thought we should get a move on.

Right, bands. We're all well aware of our fantastic trio of Download headliners this year in the shape of Iron Maiden, Slipknot and Rammstein, along with some of the other groups who will be gracing the hallowed Donington turf (or mud) this June such as 30 Seconds To Mars, Bullet For My Valentine, A Day To Remember, Mastodon and Stone Sour but the recent announcement added another 30 plus bands to the party. So here we go in no particular order.
Originally part of this announcement and since announced to be second stage headliners, Enter Shikari and Limp Bizkit will bring their unique flavours of metal to bring the second stage to a close. Shikari will be partying away on the Saturday, whilst Fred, Wes and the rest of Limp Bizkit will be Rollin Rollin Rollin their way through some nu metal classics on the Sunday night.
Limp Bizkit's nu metal comrades from KoRn are also returning to Donington for what promises to be another mammoth show, as they've reunited with original guitarist Head. Expect plenty of classic KoRn to be aired during that set. Another of the nu metal class of the early 00's who've since carved out a very successful US rock radio career, Papa Roach weren't in the original huge announcement, but decided to make their own announcement via social media and their presence was confirmed by Mr Download Andy Copping himself on Twitter.
Download 2013 is shaping up to be one of the most varied of lineups so far, with bands as diverse as Amon Amarth, Motionless In White, Parkway Drive, Young Guns, Down, Airbourne and a welcome return from Jimmy Eat World amongst the throng who will descend on Donington this summer. Five Finger Death Punch also return to Download after pulling out of last years' edition of the festival, along with Finnish Love Metallers HIM. Then there's also Asking Alexandria (fresh from their sellout UK tour with Download buddies Motionless In White and While She Sleeps), rock veterans UFO, American arena fillers 3 Doors Down, Cancer Bats, In This Moment, the mighty Converge, Earthtone9's Download debut, Huntress, Visions Of Disorder, HellYeah, Walking Papers, I AM I, Hacktivist, Last Witness, Black Dogs, Goldsboro and Buffalo Summer.
All in all, not too shabby, and that's putting it very mildly! Tickets for Download 2013 are now on sale from the official festival website and all the other usual places to buy tickets online (Ticketmaster, Seetickets, Gigs N Tours, etc). We will bring you further news on Download later today after their next announcement.

Nik works in music PR, he wanted to be famous but genetics determined a managerial route instead. He put his energy into working out how to design stuff, build web stuff and string a decent series of words together. He is a big fan of original and unique sounding bands, loving a good melody and anthem - although he has been known to listen to 90s glam rock in private.
