Last week, the powers that be at Download HQ dropped one of their almighty line up bombs. On top of an already impressive looking line-up, there are now twenty three new fantastic and varied bands taking residence on the Download Festival 2015 bill.
Many sizeable acts have been added, with the likes of Gothenburg Sound originators In Flames, Bay area thrash legends Testament, the lord of partying hard Andrew WK and ultimate classic rock in the shape of Black Star Riders. In Flames in particular are looking forward to returning after having to cancel a planned appearance at Download 2014, here's their frontman Anders Friden:
It will be fantastic to be back on UK soil. Download has always been a great festival. We’re looking forward to meeting friends and playing our take on heavy metal in front of some of the greatest fans that there is.
Plenty more big names have signed up for the annual Donington party, including Brit rock legends Thunder, former KISS man Ace Frehley, Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti with his Tremonti solo project and the newly reunited grunge rockers L7. Thunder's Danny Bowes can't wait to get back to Donington:
Download is one of my favourite festivals in the world, so I can’t wait for June to come around. Donington was where we made our mark back in 1532 [sic], so it's fitting somehow to be back at Download this year when we release 'Wonder Days', our first studio album for 6 years, and it’ll be great to see how the new tracks go down alongside the classics. The Download crowd is always amazing, so as my dear old Mum used to say, "Let’s have it!”…
For fans who like their metal more of a hardcore, deathcore or metalcore persuasion, the likes of The Ghost Inside, Stray From The Path, Chelsea Grin and All That Remains are likely to tick the boxes. The full list of bands added this time around is as follows:
Black Star Riders
We Are Harlot
Stray From The Path
The Ghost Inside
All That Remains
Fearless Vampire Killers
Hands Like Houses
The above bands join the already impressive line up topped off by Slipknot, Muse and KISS who will be headlining Download 2015, coming as always from the UK's spiritual home of rock at Donington Park racecourse. Tickets and lots of other information can be obtained at www.downloadfestival.co.uk
