The bands for the major festivals just keep on coming! Andy Copping and his team at Live Nation HQ are very pleased to announce the addition of another fifteen bands to the line up of The Download Festival 2014.
Heading up the announcement are some major names from across the rock and metal spectrum; Zakk Wylde brings his Black Label Society to Donington for the second time, having previously appeared at Download two years ago. Semi-frequent visitors to Download over the years, prog metal giants Opeth also return to headline the Pepsi Max tent on the Friday night of Download 2014, meaning anyone who doesn't fancy seeing Avenged Sevenfold or The Offspring has a rather nice alternative for the end of their Friday night!
On the lighter side, Pop punk heroes Bowling For Soup return to Download once again. The scene of some of their greatest moments over the years, Jaret, Erik, Chris and Gary are not to be missed. Inflatable sheep beware (those who know, know). On the back of a great performance at last years' festival, home grown metalcore group Bury Tomorrow will be back, taking a step up to the second stage this year.
A large slice of American classic rock will be present at Donington this year, with Skid Row, Tesla and Danger Danger all heading over to play Download 2014. There's also room for newcomers, with US metal group Anti Mortem making their Donington debut, not to mention Down and Pantera legend Phil Anselmo bringing his solo project The Illegals over for the first time. Industrial metal group Powerman 5000 will also take to the stage at Castle Donington for their Download debut and more amazingly, Bad Religion will be appearing at the Download Festival for the very first time as well.
Rounding things off are a quartet of incredibly varied bands; Celtic punk act Flogging Molly, Blues rockers The Graveltones, country punk rock group The BossHoss and fresh from their tour with Lamb of God, Huntress will be returning to the UK for the second time in 2014.
With all of these bands alongside the likes of Trivium, Status Quo, Steel Panther, Fall Out Boy, Rob Zombie, Alter Bridge and of course headliners Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park (performing Hybrid Theory in full) and Aerosmith, Download is shaping up as the rock festival for 2014 if you like your rock and metal with variety. Full ticketing information is available over at www.downloadfestival.co.uk. Stay tuned for further announcements.
