Killswitch Engage, Skindred & American Head Charge Among 23 New Bands For The 2014 Download Festival Line Up

The good people at the Download Festival have been at it again and have unleashed a line up announcement containing almost two dozen brand new acts for 2014 to join the already substantial existing festival bill.

Two of Download's most cherished live bands down the years are making welcome returns in 2014; Masters of the Newport Helicopter, Skindred, will return to Download's main stage for what could produce the world's largest incident of the Newport Helicopter yet thanks to their array of old favourites plus new album Kill The Power. Likewise, the return of metalcore superstars Killswitch Engage will delight thousands after their fantastic comeback Disarm The Descent and upcoming tour with fellow Download veterans Trivium.

More metal favourites will be appearing in different guises, with the Download debut of Phil Anselmo's solo project Philip Anselmo and The Illegals. Likewise, his former Pantera bandmates Vinny Paul and Rex Brown's new project Kill Devil Hill will also be making their first Donington appearance. Plenty more metal will be on show in the shape of Industrial metal veterans American Head Charge, The sharply suited deathcore Texans Upon A Burning Body and their fellow purveyors of Deathcore Frankie Palmeri and his Emmure bandmates. Goth metal project September Mourning will also be making their Download bow alongside the riff heavy sounds of Malevolence, power metal's finest war happy Swedes Sabaton, Dutch metal outfit The Charm, The Fury and Japanese group Coldrain

American TV and Hollywood star Taylor Momsen will also be returning to Download, bringing her band The Pretty Reckless back to Donington for the first time since 2011. She tends to get up to various on-stage antics, so that's one performance well worth keeping an eye on. In addition they will be joined by South Africa's most well known rock / grunge export Seether, blues guitar god Joe Bonamassa, the emo-rock stylings of The Used, London rock band Lyger, Danish rockers New Politics, homegrown hardcore mob Polar and their slightly more melodic peers Heart In Hand. Finishing off the additions to the Download 2014 Line up are controversial US hardcore band King 810 and in a nice spot of throwback action, US 90's rap metal act Crazy Town, along with early 90's post-hardcore group Quicksand.

That almighty collection of bands joins the numerous already announced including Trivium, While She Sleeps, Crossfaith, Opeth, Bowling For Soup, Black Label Society, Fall Out Boy, Rob Zombie, Steel Panther, Alter Bridge and The Offspring in joining headliners Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and Aerosmith. Tickets can be obtained from the official website www.downloadfestival.co.uk. More announcements will follow in the coming weeks so stay tuned for more and more bands for Download!

Nik works in music PR, he wanted to be famous but genetics determined a managerial route instead. He put his energy into working out how to design stuff, build web stuff and string a decent series of words together. He is a big fan of original and unique sounding bands, loving a good melody and anthem - although he has been known to listen to 90s glam rock in private.
