Sylosis Release New Single "Mercy" & Dormant Heart Album Artwork

It's no secret that here at Scribes Of Metal we like Sylosis, quite a lot. So the fact that late last week the Reading metal quartet their first bit of new music in over eighteen months was cause for celebration. Having recently made the initial announcement of their fourth studio album Dormant Heart, we've now got a solid taste of music from the album.
The first single from Dormant Heart is called "Mercy", and Sylosis have also put out a music video to go along with the song. For those who'd like to hear it for themselves, you can hear and watch the Mercy video at the bottom of this post.
On the subject of Mercy, Josh Middleton, Sylosis' frontman gives an overview:
"Mercy is the first single off the new album. It's got a pretty dark and heavy vibe to it but it's one of the most melodic tracks on the album at the same time. It's got a big slow, doomy outro with an octave pedal on the guitars so that's going to rumble some guts live.
For this video, we wanted to keep it dark and claustrophobic. It's got some of the artwork from the album and inlay illustrated as well which came together really well."
A second piece of news from the Sylosis camp is that Bristol based artist Bonfire has created the album artwork for Dormant Heart. Bonfire has previously worked with such metal luminaries as Katatonia and Opeth so Sylosis are in good company with their new artist. See his work on the Dormant Heart cover below:

Nik works in music PR, he wanted to be famous but genetics determined a managerial route instead. He put his energy into working out how to design stuff, build web stuff and string a decent series of words together. He is a big fan of original and unique sounding bands, loving a good melody and anthem - although he has been known to listen to 90s glam rock in private.
