“I'm excited to be playing Sonisphere this year, and super excited to be playing the same stage as the first band I ever fell in love with - Iron Maiden; it's definitely going to be my festival highlight for 2014.”
Twelve New Acts Announced For Sonisphere Knebworth 2014 Including Deftones & Frank Turner
It's that time again! ScribesOfMetal is pleased to bring our readers the latest batch of acts announced for Sonisphere UK at Knebworth this coming July. In an announcement that was made about an hour ago this morning, another twelve acts of tremendous variety have been confirmed.
Heading up the new additions is the double whammy of US alternative metal favourites Deftones, and UK folk rocker Frank Turner, along with his band The Sleeping Souls. Deftones will take up the special guest position on the Saturday of the festival to play alongside Iron Maiden, while Frank's exact stage and day are not yet confirmed. Being no stranger to Iron Maiden, as they are his favourite band (and he even had them as his specialist subject on Celebrity Mastermind), it's safe to say Mr Turner's quite excited about playing at Sonisphere Knebworth 2014:
Playing The Saturn Stage across the weekend at Knebworth this year are two bands who'll be sure to get the crowd in party mood; Scottish pirate metal group Alestorm, and Ska veterans Reel Big Fish. Continuing the variety, Canadian prog metal act Protest The Hero will also be appearing on the back of a hugely successful UK tour with TesseracT and The Safety Fire earlier this month and PTH will get the chance to unleash their unique sound on the grounds of Knebworth House. Flying the flag for the home grown acts will be rockers Max Raptor, one of the bands of the moment in Blitz Kids (you can read our review of their recent album launch show in London right here) and electro rockers Hounds. The reactivated Irish grunge group Kerbdog will be appearing in a very rare UK festival appearance, as well stoner rock act Truckfighters and US punk rock group Only Crime. Last but not least, former King Blues frontman, punk rapper Itch will be bringing his unique offerings to Knebworth for the very first time.
All of these acts join headliners The Prodigy, Iron Maiden and Metallica (playing their special "By Request" set), as well as Slayer, Gojira, Mastodon, Airbourne and many many others with dozens of bands still to be announced. Tickets, including the deposit scheme and limited early bird tickets are available from the official website www.sonisphere.co.uk. As and when more acts are added to the festival we will let all our readers know.
