Twenty Four More Bands Added To The Line Up For The 2014 Download Festival

How do you make a fantastic festival even better? By adding another twenty four awesome bands of all different shapes and sizes and that's exactly what's happened for the 2014 Download Festival. There's also another important bit of news that we're going to kick off with.

By popular demand, Trivium have been promoted from headlining the Red Bull tent stage to Second stage headliners after the huge outpouring of support for the band after the initial announcement and the concern as to just how everyone who wanted to see them would be able to. They'll still be playing their classic 2005 set, just as part of a bigger set now.

Onto the new bands; Bands of all sizes have been added to the line up and we'll start with a trio of huge bands in their own sub-genres; Bring Me The Horizon, Within Temptation and Behemoth! BMTH and Within Temptation will take up big main stage slots, while Nergal and the rest of Behemoth will headline the Pepsi Max stage on the Saturday night - touch choices await Behemoth fans who also like Sikth and Linkin Park!

Some legendary bands are also joining the line up; Brazilian metal heroes Sepultura will return to Download for the first time since 2003, and American classic rockers Twisted Sister will be appearing for the second time. US classic rock bands Tyketto and Winger will also be making their Download debuts in news that has really excited the classic rock community.

Leading the charge for the rest of the bands are US metallers Fozzy, led by Chris Jericho, who will be appearing at Download for the third time but making their main stage debuts. They're at the head of the queue of several more American additions to the line up: rap punks Zebrahead, metalcore outfit We Came As Romans, hardcore mob Defeater, midwest punks Radkey, rock veteran Dan Reed and his band The Dan Reed Network and Reignwolf, who've been picked out as a band to watch by Rolling Stone magazine in the States.

There's also plenty more home grown bands joining the already sizable British contingent on the Download line up for 2014. The Howling, Collibus, Bad Touch, Cage The Gods, Zoax, Monuments and some friends of ours here at Scribes Of Metal - Press To Meco, are all onboard.

Two very unique acts round off this announcement; eclectic duo Twenty One Pilots will appear at Download for the first time as well the multinational post-metal group Skyharbor.

All of these bands join the dozens currently on the line up headed by Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and Aerosmith. Tickets can be obtained from www.downloadfestival.co.uk and all the other usual outlets. More announcements will be forthcoming and Scribes Of Metal will have those for you as and when they happen!

Nik works in music PR, he wanted to be famous but genetics determined a managerial route instead. He put his energy into working out how to design stuff, build web stuff and string a decent series of words together. He is a big fan of original and unique sounding bands, loving a good melody and anthem - although he has been known to listen to 90s glam rock in private.
